Strategic human resource management (SHRM) is an approach to human resource management that supports long-term organizational goals and objectives from a strategic perspective. It can also be defined as the integrating of an organization's strategic goals with its human resources to improve performance and efficiency.

Why Strategic HR Management? Strategic HRM covers all HR activities that help an organization achieve its goals and objectives. This approach focuses on aligning HR policies, processes, and systems with long-term business goals and outcomes. In strategic HRM, the role of HR is transformative, leader and initiator. The HR initiative is swift, proactive and integrated.

This Strategic Human Resource Management book will provide deep knowledge about various key aspects of Strategic HR Management so that readers can design, develop & execute well-defined HR strategies which are in alignment with larger organizational strategies to give a competitive advantage to the HR and the organization. These added skills & competencies will enable the HR department in playing proactive & strategic partner role for helping the organization achieve its ultimate business goals and objectives.

The primary objective of this book is to help to develop an understanding and appreciation of the role strategic human resource management has in a firm’s success, along with knowledge of the basic functions of human resource management, current practices, and issues.

This book will also take a general HRM perspective. HRM policy decisions can no longer be designated as a staff function for a firm to achieve a competitive advantage. The employment of HRM policies and practices is a general management responsibility. In turn, this book focuses on the role of managers and how they can develop and implement effective, efficient, and ethical human resource practices that support firms’ strategic objectives. Thus, this book supports a wide-range of careers across disciplines.

This book presents a thorough and systematic coverage of issues related to strategic human resource management. This SHRM book is basically for the readers who are specializing in the field of Human resource management. This book will help the readers to think strategically and integrate the activities of HR with the organizations goals.
