Economic development generally refers to the sustained, concerted actions of policy makers and communities that promote the standard of living and economic health of a specific area. Economic development can also be referred to as the quantitative and qualitative changes in the economy. Such actions can involve multiple areas including development of human capital, critical infrastructure, regional competitiveness, environmental sustainability, social inclusion, health, safety, literacy, and other initiatives. Economic development differs from economic growth. Whereas economic development is a policy intervention endeavor with aims of economic and social well-being of people, economic growth is a phenomenon of market productivity and rise in GDP, Policymakers that improve the standard of living and economic health of a specific locality. The definition of economic development given by Professor Michael Todaro is an increase in living conditions, improvement of the citizens self-esteem needs and free and a just society.

Dr. Shely Rastogi
Dr. Shely Rastogi is a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administra_on, D.N. (PG) College, Meerut. She received this fellowship from University Grant commission (UGC), New Delhi under PDFW Scheme (2013-18). She holds M.Com, MBA and PhD with relevant experience of 06 years in academics and research. She has published various research papers in reputed journals and presented many papers in interna_onal and na_onal conferences. Besides, she has also a_ended FDPs / Workshops at different level.

Dr. S. K. Agarwal
Dr. S. K. Agarwal is presently an associate professor at the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administra_on, D.N. (PG) College, Meerut. He has vast experience of 38 years in academics and research. 24 PhDs have been awarded, 05 PhDs and 01 PDF are pursuing under his guidance. He has also successfully completed 01 sponsored minor
research projects. He has published 05 academic books. He has contributed more than 30 papers in reputed journals and presented 45 papers in interna_onal and na_onal conferences. He has also a_ended 03 training program at  different level. He is Dean-Student welfare and editor of “DAVODAYA'' Magazine at D.N. College, Meerut. He had been 04 _mes NSS programme officer and 02 _mes coordinator for Pre-PhD Course Work and coordinator of IGNOU, New Delhi. He is also an editor of Journal of Commerce and Trade, Meerut and Guest Faculty Member at different Management Ins_tutes. Apart these, He is president of Society for Advanced Management Studies (Regd.)
